Abstract

874,796. Electrical equipment chassis. BUSH & RANK CINTEL Ltd. May 9, 1960 [May 7, 1959], No. 15683/59. Class 37. An assembly for electronic apparatus housed within a sealed container comprises substantially flat circuit members 1, for carrying circuit components and printed wiring, arranged perpendicular to an axis of symmetry of the container and supported by a member 2 containing within it a channel 3, Fig. 3, for the passage of a fluid coolant and provided with apertures 5 adapted to direct a flow of coolant over at least one surface of each of the members 1. The supporting member 2 comprises a channel 3 formed integrally with two laterally extending portions 8, 9 provided with slots 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 for receiving the circuit members 1. Air driven by a fan 4 passes through the channel 3 and out by way of holes 5, its path being as indicated by two arrows, and returning to the fan in the gap between the assembly and the inner surface of the container (not shown). The fan may be mounted so that its body either forms an extension of the channel 3 or is within the channel. Increased cooling may be achieved by cooling the walls of the container or by including a heat-exchanger connected to the evaporator of a refrigerating system included in the flow path of the coolant.
