Abstract

874,664. Baling presses. HARRISON, McGREGOR & GUEST Ltd. Jan. 1, 1960 [Jan. 2, 1959], No. 139/59. Class 94(1). A baling press of the kind having a baling chamber 11 in which a ram 10 is reciprocable, and in which the ram 10 has a knife 14 on one flank for cutting material protruding through a feed opening in the side of the baling chamber 11, is characterized by a pair of grooved rollers 16 longitudinally spaced on the ram 10 so as to run on a guide rail 17 in the chamber adjacent the knife carrying flank of the ram 10, and by the use of a universal joint 18 between a connecting rod 13 and the ram 10. The rail 17 is adjustable laterally of the chamber 11. In addition, the ram 10 is supported near its other flank by an ungrooved roller 22. The ram carries a roller 19 at its rear end, the roller 19 being urged upwardly by a leaf spring 20. A slide pad 21 is fixed to the ram behind the roller 19.
