Abstract

874,185. Electromagnetic vibrators. RUSSELL CO. Inc., ARTHUR G. March 31, 1958 [Sept. 27, 1957], No. 10205/58. Class 35. A supporting and vibrator unit for a material conveyer comprises a pair of spaced-apart end plates 12 and 13 with leaf springs 14 and 15 secured to opposite edges thereof to maintain the end plates substantially parallel but permit relative oscillatory movement, means such as the tapped holes 38 and 39 to secure one end plate to a supporting structure and the other to the conveyer, and an electromagnetic motor 26, 32 to impart the oscillatory movement to the plates. The plates are mounted vertically with the leaf springs extending horizontally between them, and by rotating the plates through an angle about the horizontal axis through their fixing holes the ratio of vertical to horizontal movement imparted to the conveyer may be varied. The motor comprises an E-shaped core 26 carrying a coil 25 and acting on an armature 32. Multiple leaf springs with nylon spacers may be used and enclosing cover plates, affixed along one edge only, may be provided, together with a graduated scale to indicate the angle of tilt.
