873,918. Dry shavers; hair clippers. FULLERSHAPCOTT, C. A. F., and CHILTON ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Ltd. Aug. 6, 1959 [Aug. 6, 1958; Nov. 8, 1958], Nos. 25146/58 and 35932/58. Class 131. In an electric dry shaver incandescent lamps 10 are fed by current induced by transformer action in an auxiliary coil 21 mounted on a laminated field magnet 18 which is energized by a coil 20, fed with A.C. current, to oscillate the armature which drives the moving part of the shaver. A hood 2 has openings 13, 14 to expose the shear plate 3 and windows 8 in lamp shields 5 which have lugs 16 detachably received in the casing 1 and have sockets for screwed lamps 10. Lamp contacts 11 project through apertures 12 in the casing for connection to the coil 21 which is proportioned so that suitable current is fed to the series-connected lamps 10. In a modification the shield is made entirely of transparent plastic. In the application of the invention to a hair clipper (Fig. 9) a central lamp 101 is protected by hood 21 formed as part of the casing and extended to provide a shield 51 having a window 81. The lamp is fed by a coil 161 on the limb 191 of a field magnet 181 having an energising coil 201 and pivoted on a pin 182 so that it can be displaced against the spring 193 by a screw 194. The armature 171 is mounted on a spring blade 162. According to the second Provisional Specification a hair clipper may be provided with more than one lamp.
