872,751. Boring earth. ELBA-WERK, ETTLINGER BAUMASCHINEN UND HEBEZEUGFABRIK G.m.b.H. March 2, 1959 [March 1, 1958], No. 7108/59. Class 85. [Also in Group X] In apparatus for boring earth, pile driving, ramming, or breaking up concrete roads, and comprising a winch drum 7 driven by a motor (not shown) and an electromagnetic clutch 8, a time switch 10 in the clutch control circuit 9 causes the clutch to engage for a set time to rotate the drum and raise a tool 3, the switch being reset at the end of the fall of the tool following the dis-engagement of the clutch. As shown, the invention is applied to earth boring apparatus in which the tool is supported by a cable 6 passing about pulleys 4, 5. The pulley 5 is mounted on a lever 14 pivoted at 13 and carrying a pin 15 which actuates a switch 16 to reset the switch 10 when the tool reaches the bottom of the hole and the cable slackens.
