Abstract

872,508. Electroplating. PRESTON & CO. Ltd., JOHN. Aug. 12, 1957 [Aug. 15, 1956], No. 24941/56. Addition to 773,799. Class 41. The plating jig claimed in parent Specification has on the rod or frame 10 bosses or projections 11 over which the resilient coils or loops 15 of the article-supporting arms 14 are engaged. The projections 11 may be rods passing through holes in the rod or frame 10 and brazed or soldered in position at 12. The projections 11 are preferably made of, or at least the loop-engaging portions thereof are surfaced with, a metal the electrical conductivity of which is unaffected by the plating bath, e.g. the projections 11 may be made of stainless steel or titanium, or a soft metal, e.g. copper, brass or phosphor-bronze with a casehardening coating, e.g. of chromium. Collars 13 on the projections 11 serve to position the loops 15. The materials of the rod or frame 10 are as described in the parent Specification, or may be of stainless steel or tantanium, and the jig is coated with an electrically-insulating and corrosion-resisting material. The arms 14 may be of the same material as the projections 11, the loops 15 being coated with a hard metal, e.g. stainless steel, where a soft metal is employed. The frame 10 may be tubular and of any desired cross-section, and, in a modification, the loop 15 on each arm comprises a split sleeve. According to the Provisional Specification, the arms 14 or the frame 10 may be of titanium alloy.
