Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0872313/IV (b)/1> wherein R is an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical which may be further substituted, X is an oxygen or sulphur atom or an -NR1- radical in which R1 is hydrogen or a radical as defined by R and may be the same as or different from R, or R and R1 may form a common ring system, and Y is a fluorine atom or an RX- radical which may be the same as or different from the first RX-radical; and their preparation (when Y is fluorine) by reacting cyanuric fluoride with not more than an equimolar amount of an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic compound containing a hydroxyl, mercapto or primary or secondary amino group, or a metal salt thereof; or (when Y is other than fluorine) by reacting cyanuric fluoride with twice the molar amount of a hydroxy, mercapto or amino compound of the types referred to, or by reacting a 2-substituted-4,6-difluoro-1,3,5-triazine with not more than an equimolar amount of such a compound. Acid-binding agents and/or inert solvents may be present. Specified hydroxylic reactants are alkanols, cyclohexanol, benzyl alcohol, allyl alcohol, ethylene and propylene chlorhydrin, pentaerythritol trichlorhydrin, 2-fluorethanol, glycol monomethyl ether, glycol monoacetate, phenol, a - and b -naphthol and their substitution products, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthols, and 3-hydroxypyridine. Specified mercaptans are alkyl and benzyl mercaptans, thioglycollic acid esters, mercaptocrotonic acid esters and thiophenols and thionaphthols and their substitution products. Specified amines are methylamine, dimethylamine, ethylamine, methylpropylamine, cyclohexylamine, benzylamine, 2-chloroethylamine, ethylene-imine, piperidine, aniline and its nuclear substituent products, monomethylaniline, and naphthylamines and their nuclear substitution products. The compounds of the invention are stated to be of use as fungicides or herbicides.ALSO:The invention comprises, inter alia, the compounds 2-(11-anthraquinonylamino)-4, 6-difluoro -1, 3, 5-triazine, 2, 4-bis-(11-anthraquinonylamino)-6-fluoro-1, 3, 5-triazine, 2-(41-benzoylamino-11-anthraquinonylamino)-4, 6-difluoro-1, 3, 5-triazine, 2-(11-anthraquinonylamino) -4-(41-benzoylamino-11-anthraquinonylamino) - 6-fluoro-1, 3, 5-triazine, and 2-(41-benzene-azophenylamino)-4, 6-difluoro- 1, 3, 5-triazine. These are prepared by the reaction of cyanuric fluoride with the corresponding amine, or of a 2-substituted-4, 6-difluoro-1, 3, 5-triazine with an amine.
