Abstract
A therapeutic substance is obtained from sapwood of lime, preferably Tilia Sylvestris Desp., by placing fragments thereof in cold water, heating to boiling-point and boiling until the volume is reduced by about one-third. Thereafter the resulting decoction is filtered and the clear solution is atomized by spraying under pressure to give a fine powder which may be used as such in therapeutic compositions, e.g. a solution in water or it may be further processed by dialysis in aqueous solution against distilled water. The active substance may be used medicinally as an aqueous solution thereof or put up in forms, e.g. capsules, cachets and tablets.
