An agricultural machine 2 is coupled to a tractor 1 by a linkage allowing it to move about an axis 8 and is driven from the tractor power-take-off 16 through a transverse shaft 10 mounted in a member 9 carried by a lifting device 11 . . 13 on the tractor, the shaft having a pulley 17 connected by belts 18 to a pulley 19 on the machine. The linkage comprises an arm 20 welded to the member 9 and connected at 21 to a tie bar 22 on the machine and arms 3, 4 on the tractor connected at 5 to arms 6, 7 on the machine, tolerance at the points 5, 21 permitting the movement about the axis 8.. The belts 18 may be adjusted by a device 25 incorporating a spring element.
