Abstract

871,770. Preventing wheel slip. HEINSWIG, J. K. June 1, 1959 [May 31, 1958], No. 18632/59. Class 108(2). To prevent skidding a friction wheel 15, Fig. 1, is mounted on a spring 3 of a rear wheel 1 of a vehicle. The wheel 15 is pivoted on an arm 12 which is pivoted to an end portion 9 of a U-shaped arm which is attached to the spring 3. The two portions of the U-shaped arm are pivoted together at 8, a resilient block 10 being compressed between the two portions. The height of the friction wheel may be regulated by a cam 17 attached to an arm 18 operated from the driver's cabin by a cable 19. Cylindrical friction members 25, Fig. 3, are attached to the tyre 21 of the friction wheel 15 by cup-shaped members 23 and rivets 22. Each member 25 contains a block 26 of sponge rubber which serves to eject snow.
