Abstract

871,556. Vehicle side screens. JOEL, J. Aug. 31, 1959 [Aug. 29, 1958], No. 29673/59. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXV] A weather guard fixing device has a portion 14, Fig. 3, constructed to fit snugly into a channel 9 formed along the aperture side of a structural element 21 bounding a vehicle window aperture and to resist gravitational and other forces tending to dislodge it from the channel. As shown, attachments 10 each has a tongue 11 riveted to the guard 6 which has its edge portion 8 bent at an obtuse angle and engages in the channel 9 with the main portion sloping downwards and outwards of the vehicle, the tongue 11 being bent around the edge portion 8 to project therebeyond to be folded back into a fold 14 which terminates in a shoulder 16 and is adapted to engage the channel 9 with the end of the fold and shoulder contacting opposite walls. A trough portion 17 adjoining the shoulder 16 embraces the adjacent channel wall and terminates in a plastic sheathed wire hinge clip 19 to clip over the element 21 or an integral portion 191, Fig. 5, which is made to fold over the element 21, the forces exerted thereby and the weight of the shield tending to increase the frictional forces between the end of the fold 14 and the shoulder 16 and their respective contacting walls.
