Abstract
The caking tendency of common salt is reduced by incorporating in it a small quantity of nitrilotriacetamide, e.g. 0.05% to 0.0001% by weight. The nitrilotriacetamide is preferably sprayed as an atomized aqueous solution on to the solid salt but may also be added to the salt during its manufacture, e.g. to the suspension of salt in its mother liquor or to the wet filtered salt obtained therefrom. Other known anti-caking additives may be incorporated in the salt in addition to the trinitrilotriacetamide. The Provisional Specification refers to the incorporation of salts of the general formula N.(R.CO.NH2)3, R being an alkyl radical.
