[Also in Group XXXI] The stopper of the fuel tank filler tube 1 of a motor vehicle comprises a disc 5 of metal flush with the surface of the vehicle and seated in a recess 4 in the filler tube, and a resilient closure cap 8, the disc 5 being connected by a screw 9 and rod 10 to a toggle lever 11 mounted on a shaft 12 upon an extension of which is mounted a pulley 13. A cord passes over the pulley and to the dashboard of the vehicle from where the opening and closing of the filler tube is controlled. The lever 11 may pass beyond top dead centre to prevent opening of the stopper from outside the vehicle.
