870,876. Pallet loading machines. NELSTROP & CO. Ltd., WILLIAM. Dec. 3, 1959 [Feb. 5, 1959], No. 4069/59. Class 94(1). A pallet loading machine comprises a shoot a down which sacks e slide on to a member b for turning them through approximately 180 degrees so that they are discharged on to a pallet n supported on a turn table o, the turntable being rotatable to allow sacks to form a pattern on the pallet, and vertically moveable to permit stacked layers to be formed. As each sack strikes a stop d on the member b, it operates a switch (not shown) causing a ram m to tilt the member and discharge the sack. A gate f descends automatically to check following sacks. Switch means (not shown) may also be provided to index the turntable through 90 degrees after each sack discharge and to lower it after completion of each layer. A visual or audible signal may indicate a completed stacking operation and means may be provided to prevent sack discharge while a pallet is being replaced.
