Abstract
1305479 Packaging emptied bags SIMONCARVES Ltd 20 Dec 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 60112/70 Heading B8C Emptied bags to be compacted into a receptacle 15 are placed successively on to a platform 11 and a plate 20 forming one half of the platform is pivoted through 180 degrees to fold the bag in half and position it above an aperture 12, and a box-member 24 carried by the plate 20 is then lowered by a ram (23, 25) to push the bag into the receptacle 15. Plates 16 are pivoted to two sides of the aperture 12 and are raised to a horizontal position as the member 24 is retracted, so as to prevent the bag from returning with the member 24. The plate 20 is pivoted by a ram 28 connected to a rack 29 which meshes with a pinion 30 on the plate. The receptacle 15 may be one of a pair mounted on a movable carriage so that when the receptacle is full it can be replaced without interrupting the operation of the apparatus. The apparatus may be operatively connected with a bag slitting and emptying machine.
