Abstract

870,717. Magnetic record heads. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 25, 1960 [Jan. 24, 1959], No. 2660/59. Class 40 (2). A multi-track head comprises non-magnetic mounting members 1, 2 disposed face to face, each having a recess 5, 6 oblique to the medial plane, a polepiece 9, 10 in each recess, said mounting members and said polepieces being slotted at 12 to form separate pairs of polepieces, core means 13 completing the magnetic circuit of each pair of polepieces, each core means 13 carrying a coil 14, and magnetic screens disposed in each of the slots 12. Figs. 3 and 4 show a modification in which the members 1, 2 are provided with slots 15 for the insertion of the core means 13 and its associated coil 14, after which a cushion 16 and screw 17 secures the said core and coil in position. The portions of the slots 15 each side of the screw provide passages for the insertion of suitable " potting " material.
