Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formulae: <FORM:0870576/IV (b)/1> and the preparation thereof respectively by (a) treating 2-, 3- or 4-aminobenzotrifluoride with at least two equivalents of chlorosulphonic acid in the presence of an alkali metal chloride, and (b) reacting the products of (a) with ammonia. The products of (b) are useful as intermediates in the preparation of the benzothiadiazine compounds of Specification 870,575.
