Abstract

870,006. Loose-leaf binders. MARTIN, A. W. Nov. 2, 1959, No. 37123/59. Class 146(1). A loose-leaf binder comprises a base strip 10 having three or more prongs, a channel shaped follower 11 provided with apertures to receive the prongs, and a cover strip 12 slidable in the channelled follower. The base strip 10 consists of a metal strip having reduced ends bent upwardly to form filing prongs 13, 14 and having one or more intermediate prongs 15 pressed out of the base and likewise bent upwardly. The sides of the follower 11, which is channel shaped in cross-section. are bent over to form flanges 11<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>2</SP> providing guides for the cover strip 12. The latter is arched in cross-section and has side flanges 121, 12<SP>2</SP>. The members 11, 12 are made from metal or synthetic plastic. In an alternative arrangement, the base strip is made from synthetic plastic and the prongs attached thereto.
