Abstract
The invention comprises 3-amino-4-cyanopyrazoles of the formula: <FORM:0869552/IV (b)/1> where R represents an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing at least 4 carbon atoms, and salts of such compounds with a large number of inorganic and organic acids, including ascorbic acid. The compounds are prepared by reacting a hydrazine of the formula H2N.NHR with a -cyanoa -formyl-acetonitrile or a reactive aldehyde derivative thereof, such as an a -alkoxymethylene-a -cyano-acetonitrile. Hydrazines of the formula H2N.NHR are prepared by reacting hydrazine with an appropriate ketone and hydrogenating the resulting hydrazone.ALSO:A pharmaceutical composition comprises a 3-amino-4-cyanopyrazole of the formula <FORM:0869552/VI/1> where R represents an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing at least 4 carbon atoms, and/or a salt thereof with a physiologically-tolerated acid together with a pharmaceutical carrier suitable for enteral or parenteral administration, e.g. water, gelatine, lactose, petroleum jelly, starch, magnesium stearate, talc, starch, magnesium stearate, talc, vegetable oils, benzyl alcohols, gums, polyalkylene glycols, cholesterol and wetting or emulsifying agents.
