Abstract

The invention comprises 6-halogen-pyridazines which contain in the 5-position a cyano or carbalkoxy or an acyl residue. Such compounds can be prepared by treating the correspondingly substituted 6-hydroxy compound with a halogenating agent such as phosphorus oxychloride or phosphorus pentachloride or pentabromide. In Example (1) 6-chloro-5-cyano - 3 : 4 - dimethyl - pyridazine is prepared by reacting the corresponding 6-hydroxy compound with phosphorus oxychloride. Similarly obtained are (2) 6-chloro-5-carbethoxy-3 : 4 - diphenyl - pyridazine; (3) 6 - chloro - 5 - cyano - 3 : 4 - diphenyl - pyridazine; (4) 6 - chloro - 5 - carbethoxy - 3 : 4 - di - (p - chlorophenyl) - pyridazine; (5) 6 - chloro - 5 - acetyl3 : 4-diphenyl-pyridazine. The products can be used as medicaments.ALSO:Medicaments for enteral, parenteral or topical administration comprise as their active ingredient 6-halogen-pyridazines which contain in the 5-position a cyano or carbalkoxy group or an acyl radical, such compounds having fungi cidal properties. The preparations may be in the form of tablets, dragees, salves or in liquid form as solutions. Suitable carriers are gelatine, lactose, starch, magnesium stearate, talc, vegetable oils, benzyl alcohol, gums, polyalkylene glycols, petroleum jelly and cholesterol. There may also be present preserving, stabilizing, wetting or emulsifying agents, salts for controlling the osmotic pressure and buffers.
