Abstract
868,513. Mounting rotors for dynamoelectric machines; adjustable cores. LIMIT ENGINEERING GROUP Ltd. Feb. 22, 1960 [Feb. 23, 1959], No. 6202/59. Class 35. The rotor 10 of an axial airgap induction motor is spring-loaded so that it moves axially into engagement with a braking disc when de-energized. The rotor shaft 3 is mounted in roller bearings 2, 16, which allow limited axial movement of the rotor. Axial pressure is applied by a spring 6 through a member 23, a washer 20 and thrust bearing 5, forcing a rotor braking disc 24 into frictional engagement with stator frame 14. Washer 20 also limits the axial separation of the rotor and stator when they are energized. The cooling arrangements and alternative rotor construction and method of fixing rotor and stator cores in their frames is as described in Specification 6201/59.
