Abstract

868,194. Hoists; operating doors of skips. HOLLER, A. Feb. 9, 1960 [April 17, 1959], No. 4570/60. Classes 78(3)and 78 (4). A builder's hoist, operated by a winch driven by a remote-controlled reversible motor with a travel-limiting brake, comprises two parallel girders each made up of a number of rear and front tubular uprights 1, 2, Fig. 1, connected by cross-members 3 and held at a fixed distance from each other by cradles, Fig. 3, the uprights 1, 2 being engaged by stops 11, 15, respectively, on the cradle. The web 6 of a T-iron is welded to each front upright 2, and forms a guide-rail for rollers 21. of the hoist trolley, Fig. 5. This trolley comprises a rectangular frame made up of channel-section cross-pieces 17, 18, 18<SP>1</SP>, and vertical pieces 16. At the centre of the crosspiece 18, 18<SP>1</SP> there is provided an arresting device Fig. 8, which, if the cable breaks, actuates cams 30 to grip the web 6 of the T-iron. The device comprises a part 23 welded to the cross-piece 18, 18<SP>1</SP>, and a movable part 24 which is welded to a rod 26 controlled by a spring 26<SP>1</SP> and which is connected to the hoisting cable at 25. When the cable breaks, the spring 26<SP>1</SP> draws the part 24 towards the part 23 and through links 27 and levers 28 rotates shafts 29 bearing the cams 30, whereby these latter grip the web 6. The trolley can be fitted, by means of an angle-iron 38 and bolts, with an automaticallydischarging hopper 31, Fig. 9, closed by a shutter 35 mounted on a quadrant 37 which is positioned such that during lifting of the trolley, a lever 36 on the quadrant abuts against a fixed stop 41 to open the shutter where required. The stop 41 may be fixed on the building or to a discharge hopper connected to a shoot.
