Abstract

911,690. Multi - deck car transporters. NEWTON, CHAMBERS & CO. Ltd. May 25, 1961, No. 18966/61. Addition to 869,512. Class 78 (4). [Also in Group XXXII] The top floor 5 (Fig. 1) of the hoist employed in the railway truck of the parent Specification is raised and lowered by a cam rotated by the lifting mechanism of the hoist until the vertical lost motion of the parent Specification is taken up. In the form shown, cam followers 24 (Fig. 5) support the top floor of the hoist through rollers 23 from cams 19 rotated by arms 22 to which the hoist ropes 8 are secured. At the end of the lost motion of the top floor a stop 26 engages a bracket 21 of the lower floor of the hoist to lift it. A cable 8 is provided at each corner of each of the two hoists 7, and the four cables of a hoist are operated by a common hydraulic ram 9.
