Abstract

868,092. Making crank-shafts; force fits. HANOMAG A.G. April 1, 1958, No. 10345/58. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A method of mounting an arched balanceweight 3 on the crank web 2 of a crank-shaft 1 by means of cylindrical dowels 4 is characterized in that the balance weight is expanded by a shaped member which is pressed into the seat of the dowel to expand it sufficiently to allow insertion of the dowel, the piece being ejected from the seat by the dowel during its insertion. In an embodiment the balance weight is placed on the crank web with one dowel in position as shown in Fig. 1 and the seat for the other dowel is expanded by the insertion of a ball 6 with a tool 7 which is then used for inserting the dowel after the ball which is ejected by the dowel (Fig. 5).
