Abstract
867,667. Filing papers. MIYAMOTO, E. Aug. 21, 1957 [Feb. 21, 1957; April 30, 1957 (2)], No. 26423/57. Class 146(1). A binder of a filing cover 1, Fig. 1, comprises a base plate 2 attached to the centre portion 1A of the cover 1, a turnable side plate 3 which is hinged to one side of the plate 2 urged by a spring 4 to its opened position, at least two filing pins 5 arranged perpendicularly on the plate 3, another side plate 6 formed by bending up the other edge of the plate 2 and having in its upper portion slots 7 for receiving the filing pins 5 when the plate 3 is turned up and a stop device, such as the member 9A normally held against the plate 6 by a spring 8, to lock the pins 5 in the slots 7 of the plate 6. The plate 6 may be cut away at 10 to facilitate manual operation of the member 9A and the surfaces 11 of the pins 5 may be inclined to engage the member 9A and push it outwards when the binder is closed, the ends of the pins then engaging under the member 9A in the slots 7. In another embodiment, not shown the spring member 9A is replaced by a plate spring urged into engagement with the plate 6 and having holes co-operating with the slots 7 in which the pins 5 engage. The stop device of a further embodiment, Fig. 5, includes a spring urged plate 9C as described above and a removable plate 17 having pins 18, on which sheets may be temporarily held during removal and filing, and holes 19 through which the pins 5 pass. In a still further embodiment, Fig. 8, the side plate 6A is of inverted U-section forming a channel for a plate 9D drawn into the channel by a spring (not shown) and having in its upper edge L-shaped slots 23 the vertical portions of which register with the slots 7 to receive the pins 5 when the plate 9D is pulled in the direction of the arrow against the action of the spring. The plate 9D is then released and is spring urged axially along the plate 6A, the pins 5 being locked in the lateral portion 21 of the slot 23.
