Abstract

867,647. Valves. BOPP & REUTHER G.m.b.H. July 26; 1957, No. 23757/57. Class 135. In a double-plate slide valve including a pair of parallel apertured plates 1 adapted to be moved together from a position in which their outer surfaces seal against seats 18 in the valve housing to close the valve to a position in which the aligned apertures 2 open the valve, the inner side of each plate is provided with an inclined surface 10, and a bridge 4 is disposed between the two plates and carries a pressure transmitting member or ball 7 co-operating with the inclined surfaces, the bridge being biased e.g. by dished spring washer assemblies 12 with respect to the plates and being movable therewith, and the construction is such that, on closing, the bridge becomes stationary relative to the housing so that the plates are forced outwardly on to their seats, the direction of the said bias tending to release the pressure transmitting member 7 from the inclined surfaces 10. The plates are aligned by a ring 3. Arms 21 of the bridge are guided in the housing and seat on stops 17. Side plates 19 surrounding the seats 18 are urged against the plates by spring rings 20 to prevent entry of foreign matter to the seating surfaces.
