Abstract

867,386. Dolls. UPPERTON, P. G. E. Oct. 9, 1959 [Nov. 5, 1958], No. 35560/58. Class 132(3). A doll or like figure comprises a head 6 which may be wood, arms and legs formed from two lengths of sleeved wire 1, 2 and hands and feet consisting of beads or mouldings 7 and 8 pressed on to the arms and legs, at least one of the wires having a bent part secured in a boring in the head. As shown in Figs. 2 and 5, the wire 1 forms two arms and the wire 2 two legs but, as shown in Fig. 6, each wire comprises one arm and one leg. The arms and legs, as shown in Fig. 2, are bent at 3 and connected together by tape 4 ready to be adhesively secured in a blind boring 5. As shown in Fig. 6, the wires are folded back on themselves and passed through a diametral bore in the head and around a length of covered wire or tape 12 adhesively secured to the head. As shown in Fig. 5, only the legforming wire 2 is secured in the head whereas the arm-forming wire. 1 is tied at 11 so that it is free to turn relatively to the legs. Hair is simulated by cotton wool 9, Fig. 4, and hats by foam plastic material 10 and garments are produced from pieces of fabric machine stitched or adhesively joined together.
