Abstract
867,122. Centrifugal governors. ERICSSON TELEPHONES Ltd. Nov. 30, 1959 [Nov. 29, 1958], No. 38575/58. Class 57. [Also in Group XXXIV) A governor for an automatic telephone dial comprises balls 17 freely mounted in wedgesection cavities 16 formed by co-operating slots 4, 10 in cylindrical members 1, 7 resiliently urged together and braking means actuated by relative axial movement of the members due to outward movement of the balls under centrifugal force to control the return speed of the dial. Keyways 3, 9 in the members 1, 7 engage splines 13 on a shaft 12 having a flange 14 against which the member 7 abuts, the other member 1 being parallel to and a predetermined distance from a friction plate 19. The members are urged together by a compression spring (not shown) whose loading may be varied. The shaft 12 rotates with the dial during its return motion and the member 1 is urged axially by the centrifugal action of the balls 17 whereby its face 6 is pressed against the friction plate 19.
