866,900. Linkwork. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Oct. 11, 1957 [Oct, 16, 1956], No. 31530/56. Class 80 (3). An axially-loaded partlyrotatable member, such as a ring 22 forming part of a jetreversing structure in a jetpropulsion nozzle, is given a limited displacement at rightangles to the load, i.e. circumferentially, by means of one or more motors or rams 27 acting through one or more of a number of load-sustaining straight-line linkages arranged around the periphery of the member, each linkage comprising a pair of levers 12, 13 pivoted at 14, 15 to a fixed casing 21 and pivoted at 17, 18 to a link 16 pivoted at 19 to the ring 22. The pivots 14, 15 are spaced circumferentially so that over a short range of movement the pivot 19 moves in an approximate straight tangential line. The levers 12, 13 carry rollers 30 running between radially-spaced members fixed tangentially to the casing 21 to prevent bending of the levers. The pivots 17, 18, 19 may include spherical-faced elements to accommodate changes of alignment. As shown, the ram 27 is linked to the lever 13 through a bell-crank.
