In a fitting for a hose 9 provided with an intermediate layer 10 of wire cloth and comprising a conical nipple 1 projecting into the hose and screwed into a nipple 2 surrounding the hose and provided with sharp-edged, screw-threading ribs 4 engaging the layer 10 from which the rubber layer 9<SP>1</SP> has been wholly or partly stripped the sleeve also having a cylindrical collar 8 preventing the hose material from moving radially outwards, the collar has a number of inwardly directed, annular projections 13 of saw-tooth crosssection which prevent the rubber compressed by the screwing of the nipple into the sleeve from escaping from the fitting. The end wall of the layer 9 defines with the conical surface 7 of the sleeve an annular chamber 12.
