Abstract

866,596. Drying fabrics. FLEISSNER, H., FLEISSNER, H., and FLEISSNER, G., [trading as FLEISSNER & SOHN MASCHINENFABRIK]. May 8, 1957 [June 27, 1956], No. 14679/57. Class 34(1) Drying apparatus comprises a drier 10 for drying fibrous material passing therethrough; known measuring means (not shown), for determining the moisture content of the material leaving the drying apparatus and disposed on or near a discharge roller 14; an outlet 13 in the drier for moist air and a damper or valve 17 in the outlet 13 for controlling the rate at which moist air leaves the drier; and control means (not shown) for automatically regulating the damper 17 in accordance with the moisture content of the material leaving the apparatus as determined by the measuring means. As shown the material enters the drier 10 by a conveyer 11, passes around perforated rotating drums through which air is drawn by suction fans and thereafter leaves the drier on a conveyer 12. The air enters the drier through any suitable means (not shown) and passes through the wet material into the drums and is finally discharged through the outlet 13. Heater 18 controlled by thermostats 19 are provided for each drum which may be separately controlled or controlled by the measuring means near the roller 14, whereby the air temperature may be graduated from one drum to the next. When the material is too moist, the damper will be opened so that the moist air can be expelled at a greater rate and when the material is too dry the damper will be closed, more or less, to reduce the amount of air discharged. In another embodiment the material leaving the drier 10 is passed into a disintegrator where the fibres are loosened and. thence into a circulating air drier from which it is discharged on to the conveyer 12. The measuring means is then disposed near the discharge outlet of the circulating air drier. If desired the measuring means may be provided in the first drier and the material passed through the disintegrator with a circulating air drier having a humidity control operable by a second measuring means disposed at the discharge outlet of the circulating air drier.
