Abstract

The invention comprises dyestuffs of the formula:-<FORM:0866434/IV(c)/1> where R1 is -COOR and R2 is hydrogen, -COR, -COOR or alkyl, R being alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms and R3 is the residue of a primary or secondary amine and wherein the aromatic nucleus may be substituted by further R3 and/or <FORM:0866434/IV(c)/2> groups or may have an aromatic ring or a heterocyclic ring fused on to it, which fused ring may also be substituted by R3 and/or groups. The dyestuffs are made by reacting a compound of the formula:- <FORM:0866434/IV(c)/3> where Ha1 is a halogen atom and R1 and R2 have the above meaning with a primary or secondary amine. The dyestuffs dye synthetic fibres such as those from polyacrylonitrile and cellulose acetate, nitrate and acetopropionate yellow to red shades. Examples are given.
