Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0866424/IV (b)/1> in which R is a phenyl, hydroxyphenyl, alkoxyphenyl, sulphophenyl, diethylaminophenyl, furyl or pyridyl radical, and the preparation thereof by treating 6-amino-7-mercapto-5, 8-quinolinequinone with an appropriate aldehyde, and pharmaceutical compositions containing the products (see Group VI). The products are active against Actinomycetes and tubercle bacilli. Specifications 853,120 and 856,505 are referred to. ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise compounds of the formula <FORM:0866424/VI/1> in which R is a phenyl, hydroxyphenyl, alkoxyphenyl, sulphophenyl, diethylaminophenyl, furyl or pyridyl radical, in admixture with 2-(p-aminobenzenesulphonamido) - pyrimidine or 2 - (p - aminobenzenesulphonamido) - 4 - methylpyrimidine combined with the 4-aminobenzenesulphothiocarbamide salt of 4-aminoethylbenzenesulphonamide, and preferably an inert carrier. Preparations may include an analgesic such as aspirin and may be in the form of, for example, capsules, emulsions or solutions. Specifications 853,120 and 856,505 are referred to.
