Class 59 The jaws 12 of a jaw crusher are formed from a ceramic material, e.g. dense porcelain containing zirconium silicate, steatite or alumina or mixtures of these materials or comprising a sintered oxide ceramic, e.g. sintered ceramic. The crushing faces of the jaws may be flat or, as shown, provided with corrugations 11 which may be ground. In the case where one or each jaw is oscillated, the lengths of the corrugations extend transversely to the axis of oscillation. The back 10 of each jaw is preferably ground flat. Each jaw is mounted in a metal holder 19 provided with end walls 20, 8 and is clamped in position by means of a bar 24 having screw threaded holes 26 engaged by screws 27.
