865,017. Measuring electrically. SUPERHEATER CO. Ltd., and BRITTIN, A. F. July 16, 1959 [July 16, 1958], No. 22863/58. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XX] In an apparatus for measuring the temperature of fluid flowing in a pipe a carrier 3 welded in the pipe 1 carries a thermocouple mounted in a capillary tube 2. The capillary tube is urged downwardly by spring 23 so that its end is in contact with the sealed end of a steel tube 7 projecting into the fluid stream. The steel tube is provided with appropriately shaped fairing 10 on the downstream side of the pipe and is held rigidly in position by reinforcing sheath 6. Tube 7 is sealed to the carrier by metal sealing ring 19 compressed by clamp member 13 under the action of nuts 15. A similar arrangement comprising a mounting for three thermocouples is also described, Fig. 3 (not shown). Specification 813,781 is referred to.
