864,428. Sewing machines. ANKERPHOENIX NAHMASCHINEN A. G. Aug. 7, 1958 [Aug. 8, 1957], No. 25314/58. Class 112 The bobbin case 13 for a rotary hook 1 comprises a thread-guiding aperture 15 which is located in a portion 14 of the case extending radially outwardly and rearwardly of a front wall of the case, and the aperture and centre of gravity of the case are arranged in a plane parallel with the end walls of the case. In use, the aperture 15, the centre of gravity of the case and a needle aperture 18 in the stitch plate 17 of the sewing machine all lie substantially in the same vertical plane, whereby a pull on the bobbin thread 16 lifts the case without tilting it laterally. The rotary hook is carried by a shaft 7 driven by 2:1 gearing 5, 4 from a shaft 2.
