Class 137 In an air-conditioning system wherein the air, in passing along a duct 4, traverses one or more heating units 3, dampers 8 are provided whereby all or a proportion of the air can be by-passed around the unit. As shown in Fig. 1, the unit is housed in a bulge and comprises a steam heater 7, two dampers 8 being pivoted at 9 in the walls of the bulge and being movable together to close the direct passage through the heater or to close the passageway around it, in conjunction with fixed baffles 18. The dampers may be moved manually or by a motor (Fig. 6, not shown).
