[Also in Group XXIII] The wire of a wire saw is reversed in movement by means of a mechanism comprising an arm 117 pivoted at either end to links 109, 1091 which in turn are pivoted to bell-cranks 111, 111<SP>1</SP> pivoted to a base plate at 112, 1121 and at their free ends to sleeves 115, 115<SP>1</SP> on arms 116, 1161 having stops 117, 117<SP>1</SP> at one end and pivoted to toggle mechanisms 119, 121 and 1191, 121<SP>1</SP>. The alternate movements of the toggle mechanisms produce swinging movement of an arm 102 pivoted at 103 and connected by a flat spring 101 to an arm 31 which connects a clutch-plate with one or other of two discs rotating in opposite directions. The arm 117 is moved by a carrier supporting pulleys engaging oppositely directed loops of the saw wire. Specifications 717,874 and 771,622 are referred to.
