863,633. Transistors. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 28,1959 [Nov. 26, 1958], No. 38027/58. Class 37. A mounting arrangement for enabling an electrical component 13 having its terminal wires 15 emerging from one end only to be mounted perpendicularly with respect to a component mounting plate, e.g. a printed circuit board, comprises a tube 10 of insulating material arranged to house the body of the electrical component with the terminal wires emerging from one end of the tube and provided at the other end with a base formed by an external flange portion 11 which acts as guiding means for the free ends of the terminal wires so that they protrude from the base for perpendicular connection of the arrangement to the component mounting plate. As described, the electrical component 13 is a transistor and the tube 10 is of moulded nylon and is tapered internally to enable transistors of different diameters to be wedged firmly therein, air escaping through a hole 14. The leads 15 pass through holes 17 in the flange 11 and are held in position by a nylon ring 18 wedged on the externally tapered surface of the tube 10. An annular channel 21 in the flange 11 prevents the formation of a moisture trap, and the ring 18 is provided with recesses on its inner surface to prevent the formation of a continuous moisture path.
