Abstract

1323712 Negative impedance circuits POST OFFICE 9 Dec 1970 [2 Jan 1970] 56699/72 Heading H3T A negative impedance circuit comprises a bipolar transistor T3 the bias for which is provided by a circuit including a field effect transistor T4 connected between the base and emitter of transistor T3. For small values of current I 2 , transistor T3 is turned off, and all current flows through the path R3, T4, R4. As I 2 increases the source-drain resistance of T4 increases and T3 turns on. The current through R3 then decreases with increasing I 2 and since most of voltage V2 is made up of the voltage drop across R3, the characteristic of the circuit shows a negative dynamic resistance region.
