Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula: <FORM:0863546/IV (b)/1> and acid addition salts thereof, wherein R1 is a methyl group, each of R2 and R3 are hydrogen atom or an alkyl group (up to 4 carbon atoms) and R4 is a hydrogen atom, and the preparation thereof by condensing a phenthiazine of the general formula: <FORM:0863546/IV (b)/2> with a halo alkyl amine of the general formula: <FORM:0863546/IV (b)/3> wherein X is a chlorine or a bromine atom, if desired in the presence of an alkaline condensation and a solvent. Specifications 802,725, 802,726 and 863,547 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 802,725.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise compounds of the general formula <FORM:0863546/VI/1> or their acid addition salts wherein R1 is a methyl group, each of R2 and R3 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-4 alkyl group and R4 is a hydrogen atom, and an inert carrier. Compositions include tablets and solutions for parenteral or local application. Acid addition salts include the hydrochlorides, hydrobromides, sulphates, citrates, tartrates, succinates, maleates, acetates, benzoates and hexahydrobenzoates. Specifications 802,725, 802,726 and 863,547 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 802,725.
