Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula: <FORM:0863197/IV (b)/1> and acid addition salts thereof and quaternary compounds of the formula: <FORM:0863197/IV (b)/2> wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical of 1-4 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 each are alkyl radicals of 1-4 carbon atoms or NR1R2 forms a pyrrolidine, piperazino, N1 lower alkyl piperazino or morpholino group, R3 represents an alkyl radical of 1-4 carbon atoms, X represents an anion and Y represents one of the groups -CH(C2H5)-CH(C2H5)-, CH(C2H5) , CH(C2H5) , CH (CH)3-, -C(C2H5) = C(C2H5)-, or - C( = CH,CH3),C( = CH,CH3) -, The tertiary bases are made by reacting a metal salt of the formula RO-C6H4-Y-C6H4-OM, wherein M is an alkali metal with a haloalkyl amine R1R2N,(CH2)n, Halogen, in an inert organic solvent. They are converted to the quaternary salts by reaction with the appropriate alkyl chloride, bromide, iodide, sulphate or para-toluene sulphonate.
