Class 123(1) [Also in Group XVII] In liquid feeding means of the "bird-fountain" type particularly for feeding liquid fuel to a space heater or stove and in which a container filled with liquid and having an open neck is inverted in a shallow pan 19 in which the liquid is automatically maintained at a substantially constant level, a valve head 13, for closing the container neck to prevent spilling of liquid while the container is being inverted and placed in position, is set inwardly from the end of the neck so that it cannot be accidently opened. The stem 14 of the valve 13 is guided for axial movement in aligned holes in a cross strap 16 and in the web of a U-shaped guide strip 15 which has its ends secured, adjacent an outlet orifice 12, to the inside of a screw-threaded cap 11 which is engageable over the neck of the liquid container, not shown. The valve 13, which is urged by a spring 18 toward a seating at the inner end of the outlet orifice 12, is lifted from its seating when the container is placed in its inverted operative position, a peg 21, upstanding from the base of the pan 19, engaging the corresponding end of the valve head 13. The latter is preferably formed with a concave recess 22 for engagement with the rounded end of the peg 21.
