Abstract
862,287. Coke-oven bracings. SIMONCARVES Ltd. Dec. 16, 1959 [Dec. 16, 1958], No. 42868/59. Class 51 (2). In a coke oven battery having an upper structure built of silica brick and a lower structure of fireclay brick, additional pressure during heating up is applied to each buckstay 21 slightly above the demarcation line 20 by a jack 39 through a spring 57 and pressure-plate 55. The jack 39 has a screwed spindle 52 engaging a head 36 with an adjusting-screw 53 and pressureplate 54, said head being pivotally connected to extensible upper and lower drawbar portions 37 and 38, respectively, pivoted to upper and lower points on the buckstay 21. Buckstays 21 are sited opposite regenerator walls 27, and, for the height of the regenerators, extend between channel members 28 pressed against the brickwork by springs 31. Opposite regenerator partitions 33 are 1-girders 32 engaged by springs 34 held by lugs formed on or attached to girders 35 extending between and attached to buckstays 21.
