Abstract

861,772. Vehicle windows. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. (Ford Motor Co.). July 15, 1959, No. 24284/59. Class 20(3) [Also in Group XXXII] A motor car provided with a known type of folding hood linkage, (see also Group XXXII) comprises a rear window frame forming the rear bow of the hood, and a window panel vertically slidable in the frame only when the hood is erected. The whole window frame comprises side units 71, 72 joined by a top rail 73, and a lower panel 74 providing support for a regulator mechanism operating the window panel 69. The panel 69 which may be slid vertically in guides 99 with respect to the side units is provided with a rail 98 having guides 102, 103 for the ends of equal length arms 104, 105 pivoted together at 112 and pivoted also at 106 and 109, the arm 105 moving in a slot 111 in the arm 104. The arm 104 is connected through its pivot stud 106 with a gear sector 107 which may be pivoted by an electric motor 116 and gears 117, 118 to give a scissor motion to the two arms. The hood and window operations are controlled in sequence by conventional interlocked electric circuits. Specification 684,225 is referred to.
