Abstract

861,672. Air curtains. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. Oct. 14, 1959 [Oct. 14, 1958], No. 34821/59. Class 137 A method of providing an air curtain between two spaces between which there are variations in pressure is characterised by the air for the air curtain being regulated so that it is directed towards the space of higher pressure and at the same time the quantity of air passing through the curtain is increased whilst maintaining its flow velocity constant. The device comprises a duct 4 and two rotary guide vanes 6, 7 between which the air for the curtain passes. Each of the vanes are rotatable about two centres i.e. 6a, 6b and 7a, 7b, stubs on the vanes at 6b and 7b sliding in grooves 11, 12 on the frames for the vanes whereas stubs on the frames at 6a, 7a slide in grooves 6c, 7c in the vanes. Springs 13, 14 operate to make the vanes rotate about centres 6a, 7a when moved outwards from their normal position whilst they rotate about centres 6b, 7b when moved inwards with the result that the passage between them for the air is increased when they are turned in unison away from their normal operating position. The actuating rack 17 for the vanes is connected to a pressure responsive member.
