Abstract
861,620. Rotary compressors. THOMAS INDUSTRIES Inc. May 20, 1959 [May 28, 1958], No. 17176/59. Class 110 (2). In a rotary compressor unit comprising an openended housing H enclosing a motor M, a compressor C of the outwardly - sliding vane type and a cooling fan F for said components M, C, the driving-shaft S is journalled in a lubricated bearing 27 and the compressor wear-plate 38 is provided with a radial slot 48 defining an air bleed passage adjacent the said bearing for preventing air pressure build-up in the bearing from forcing lubricant therefrom. The outlet port 44 of the compressor is provided with a tapered extension 45 whilst the inlet port 42 has an arcuate inner portion 43 for noise abatement purposes. The wear-plates 38, 40 and the vanes may be made of graphite, the compressor stator of cast iron and other parts of cast aluminium.
