[Also in Group XXXII] An annular spring-loading plate, Fig. 1, for a slotted plate type check-valve as used, e.g., in compressors, has two series of arcuate spring tongues 11, 14, respectively bent out of the plane of the plate and integral each at one of its ends with the plate, these two series of tongues being cut alternately round the plate from its inner and outer periphery respectively, the area of the plate not so cut and bent presenting a closed continuous bearing surface having portions as shown located alternately at the inner and outer periphery of the plate in opposite sequence to the spring tongues. In another embodiment of the loading plate, Fig. 2, two alternate series of outer and inner spring tongues 62, 63 respectively correspond to the tongues 11, 14 of Fig. 1, and two additional series of spring tongues 64, 65, respectively, also bent out of the plane of the plate, are provided intermediate the inner and outer peripheries of the plate in radial alignment and concentric with the tongues 62, 63. The loading-plate of Fig. 1 is intended to load a single valve-plate, whilst that of Fig. 2 is for loading two independent concentric valveplates, illustrated in Fig. 3 ; tongues 62, 65 press upon the outer of these two plates whilst the tongues 63, 64 press upon the inner valve plate. The free ends of the tongues may be bent back slightly towards the plate.
