Abstract
<FORM:0861522/IV (a)/1> <FORM:0861522/IV (a)/2> In a process for the manufacture of rayon alkali cellulose is continuously aged in a substantially horizontal tube of rectangular or trapezoidal cross-section having an endless conveyer belt as the bottom member thereof for transportation of the alkali cellulose through the tube during the ageing thereof. As shown in Fig. 1 apparatus suitable for carrying out the above process may comprise chamber 1 having vertical sides, a conveyer base 5 driven by means 8, inlet aperture 12, and outlet opening 14 connected to hopper 15. As shown in Fig. 4, sides 2, 3 may be replaced by conveyers 19, 20 synchronized with conveyer 5.
