Drawings to Specification, Class 98(2) A film comprises a hydrophobic synthetic thermoplastic resin or mixture thereof with a light-sensitive gas generating agent dispersed therein. It may be exposed by contact or projection printing and then heated to soften the resin and expand the gas in the form of bubbles, resulting in a diapositive when on a transparent support or a copy of opposite sign with a coloured or black support. In Example 1 a mixture of a vinylidene chloride acrylonitrile copolymer and polymethyl methacrylate is dissolved in warm methyl ethyl ketone, with methyl alcohol as further solvent p-diezodimethylaniline is stirred in, and the product is coated on supports such as ethyl cellulose, paper or celluloid or formed into an unsupported sheet; and may be exposed with a mercury lamp, heated as between two steel plates and then cooled to form a permanent record. Example 11 replaces the diazo sensitiser of Example 1 by the corresponding ethyl derivative, and six further examples describe variously the use of polystyrene, chlorinated polyphenyl, vinyl chloride/acetate copolymer, vinyl chloride/ acrylonitrile copolymer, and vinyl-vinylidene copolymer as resins, all of them with reference to proprietary products. Numerous further polymers, copolymers, diazo sensitisers, solvents and supports are listed.
